Dang! Somedays, don't you think, 'Frig, I LOVE my job!'? Well, it's been like that around the Inbox shop lately. We're thrilled to be working with the cool cats at TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, which has been taking place in Canada's capital for nearly 35 years. Last week, we announced a partnership to manage the festival's media relations and online marketing activities with a very nice press release that included a dateline, contact information and lots of flattering details about Inbox.
But there's more to say, so we thought we'd write a little bit here on our trusty blog, because we didn't get a chance to list all of our best bets in the press release. That's where we tipped our hat to the Bollywood opening night extravaganza on June 20, featuring; Jaffa Road, Autorickshaw, Bollywood megastar Richa Sharma, and bhangra-beat selector DJ Rekha (shown in the photo, above).
The programming throughhout the festival is hot, hot, hot—and we'd say that even if TD Ottawa Jazz Festival wasn't our client. (But we're just jazzed that they are! #JazzedAboutIt #TDmusic)
Here are some other hot shows to check out during the festival.
We love the band's dark orchestral-electronic sounds that are oh-so late night-ish. The Toronto group plays the OLG Stage at Marion Dewar Plaza (outside City Hall) as part of the OLG After Dark Series on June 21. More details here.
Holy moly these folks can blow the roof off a place with their collective set of pipes. Ahhhhh! It's that clouds-parting good vibe that you will get while watching the internationally renowned choir sing. They're so good, that Ray Charles, Celine Dion and Michael Bolton each collaborated with them. See them as part of the Tartan Homes Signature Series at Dominion Chalmers Church on June 22 (it's a Sunday. Church!). More details here.
Those are just a few of the many, many shows taking place at the festival! You can also check out the very cool Melissa Aldana, a rising star in the Manhattan jazz scene.
Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy on the Main Stage. The aptly named Hypnotic Brass Ensemble as part of the OLG After Dark Series. And so much more!
Like what?
Um, just that actor/banjo/comedian Steve Martin and his band The Steep Canyon Rangers with none other than EDIE BRICKELL!
The Queen of Soul (pictured up top) will be there too. You may have heard of her? Aretha Franklin. Aretha!!
